$5 SUBMISSION FEE. Please submit a piece of prose (genre not otherwise specified) up to 400 words in length. One piece per submission, with a limit of three separate submissions per author. Please note a word count at the bottom of your document. The winner and three runners up will be published online in Spring 2016. The winner will also receive $500 and print publication in Bat City Review Issue 13 (Spring 2017). 

This contest is not open to employees, students, or affiliates of the University of Texas at Austin. We are happy to read simultaneous submissions, but please let us know immediately if your piece is accepted elsewhere. We will not consider previously published work.
